Let’s get creative

This is an exciting part of the process as we begin our creative thinking in response to your design brief. We gather research from a range of sources and explore possibilities. Our playful approach ensures we creatively experiment with ideas, and we select the most interesting ones to develop. We explore ideas and source sample materials to convey our vision. We may visit your home or workplace to measure up and discuss your ideas in context and more detail.

Your initial concept

We think through all aspects of your project and formulate the best ideas to progress, considering your proposed budget and how to maximise your investment. We select the most successful ideas to create digital design drawings, and these form the basis of our proposal.

Your project research and drawings are collated into a design presentation, and we create a sketchbook for you to keep. We invite you to our studio to review our proposals, and we share our research, design thinking and discuss the various aspects of the design concepts. At this stage, the drawings are early concept ideas and our vision for your project.

Together, we evaluate the design proposals, and we take on board your observations to formulate a direction for the final design.

Your final design

In response to your feedback, we refine and fine-tune your initial concept, leading to the creation of a final design.

This illustrates the outcome of your project and includes all the relevant information. We source material samples to convey sensory qualities and help you get a feel of the materials we have identified for your project.

Some projects may require a prototype or test model which needs to be made before the production of the outcome. Prototypes help to visualise characteristics by clarifying three-dimensional qualities, aiding communication and helping solve technical problems.

We meet to discuss your final design and consider logistics and the technical aspects of your project. Once you have agreed upon your final design, we will then prepare technical designs, which we use at the next stage to construct your project in our workshop.
