Vittoria Street Gallery
We were commissioned to design and make gallery display screens for the Vittoria Street Gallery, School of Jewellery, Birmingham City University.
They challenged us to design a set of display screens which could be used to showcase a variety of exhibition materials and had to be quick to set up.
Our solution was to design and make a freestanding, flexible and adaptive system to enable these screens to be configured in a variety of ways. Hinged panels allow these screens to be folded for easy storage and then opened up to 90 degrees for display purposes.
The functionality of these screens will help to save time with the preparation and installation of exhibitions hosted by the Gallery. They need to be straightforward, uncomplicated and offer a solution which is less onerous than their current methods of displaying text panels or flat artwork.
These were made in birch plywood and the horizontal linear design creates a light and airy aesthetic that complements the existing interior design found within the School’s atrium and exhibition space.
