Timeless birch plywood kitchen

calm and tranquil design for contemporary living

CLIENT: Private

CATEGORY: Residential

PROJECT TYPE: Kitchen design, manufacture and installation

LOCATION: Birmingham, UK

MATERIALS: Birch plywood, Surf Formica

PHOTOGRAPHER: Dual Works

APPROACH:

Our approach focused on creating a calm and tranquil kitchen design showcasing the simplicity of birch plywood. Natural tones and a neutral colour palette create a timeless design with understated elegance.

Plot to Plate features a custom interior designed for a keen vegetarian cook and allotment holder. We were challenged to maximise space within a 1930s semi-detached home and asked to consider how to visually link the hallway and kitchen areas.

Within the kitchen area, each cupboard was individually crafted and designed to disguise kitchen appliances within a tight corner space, including a washing machine, dishwasher and a larder fridge. Further storage was created by introducing multi-functional mobile units that can double up as a kitchen island to extend the working area. The window reveal enhances the visual dynamic and can be utilised for display.

The kitchen area seamlessly blends into the hallway, and under-stairs storage. Birch plywood simplifies the material palette, which gives the illusion of space, showcasing the material quality and grain pattern.
