APPROACH:
We worked with Riverside House to design and make a series of bespoke furniture interventions for the Roundhouse, a flexible space used for workshops, craft activities and community events at the heart of the site.
Riverside House is an ambitious social regeneration project transforming a former derelict site in Stourbridge into a vibrant community wellbeing hub. Through craft, nature and creative activities, it supports people with mental health challenges and learning disabilities, providing opportunities to build confidence, develop practical skills and connect with others.
Working closely with the Riverside House team, we developed a multifunctional furniture system that combines seating, storage and display, allowing the space to adapt easily for different activities while maintaining its calm connection to the surrounding landscape.
Bespoke window pods create display areas for handcrafted objects while providing integrated storage, while mobile units conceal additional seating and removable craft trays to maximise flexibility. Crafted from birch plywood and Orange Valchromat, the furniture is warm, durable and designed for everyday use.
The project reflects our approach to furniture and spatial design: creating thoughtful, adaptable interventions that respond to people, place and purpose, helping community spaces work harder while remaining welcoming, functional and beautifully made.
