Steve’s skills span carpentry, metalsmithing and plastic techniques and these skills have been acquired though a lifetime’s passion for taking things apart, and learning how objects are made. Alongside this he has been employed as a 3D specialist in various Universities and Companies managing workshops dedicated to wood, metal and plastic processes, helping students bring their ideas to fruition where in-depth problem solving is fundamental to the realization of products.
Additionally Steve is one half of Sellotape Cinema with Steven Chamberlain a duo who use found visual footage, field recordings and audio traces to provide a visual and aural canvas. Analogue technologies are utilized in the construction of artist manufactured equipment in which the duo create film worked directly onto sticky tape. These are played through specially adapted projectors alongside ‘drawing drums’ and ‘sonic machines’ that draw and produce sound.
Zoe is an award winning designer maker who skills span a breadth of materials and processes. Currently she divides her time between the Dual Works and lecturing at the world renowned School of Jewellery where she has been residence for the past 10 years.
Her artistic studio practice explores themes relating to jewellery within performance whereby she creates theatrically sized jewellery and experiments on the edges of the discipline. The interdisciplinary and collaborative nature of her works moves beyond jewellery and into the fields of performance, sound, and dance. This approach enables her to create experiential and immersive environments which invite audience interaction and participation.
