Atelier du Lumiere
We created an illuminated artwork, especially for the Birmingham Light Festival
We thoroughly enjoyed creating this joyful artwork, which celebrates our workshop and nods to the rhythm and repetition of the manufacturing processes within. The colourful pattern reflects our joy of making and our location in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter. Featured on the exterior of our workshop, our striking artwork brightened up our neighbourhood.
We hosted Atelier du Lumiere, which invited visitors to take a peak inside our theatrically illuminated workshop. We also showcased a new lighting design concept by upcoming designer Peter Warrington. For this exclusive preview, Peter shared his design journey, prototypes and his digital manufacturing process.
Stay tuned for his official launch later in the year!
Alex Nicholson-Evans, City Curator and founder of Birmingham Light Festival shares her thoughts;
Birmingham Light Festival truly was the story of a city coming together to create something extraordinary in the face of adversity. The response to our open call was fantastic, and seeing local studios like Dual Works produce such joyful and beautiful work for the inaugural edition was incredibly exciting. I was thrilled to see the Jewellery Quarter community come together to deliver such a creative collective response to the theme of light. It was truly inspiring and has started to shape my vision for how the festival can evolve over time.
First-Ever Birmingham Light Festival
Birmingham Light Festival from 19 - 22 February 2025 transformed city centre locations into a spectacular gallery of illuminated artworks. Aiming to create a sense of playful curiosity and spark joy, the festival featured extraordinary artworks all within walking distance of each other, encouraging visitors to come together and explore the city.
The Festival was brought to life with an accompanying programme of events, from interactive installations to dining and entertainment experiences.
