St Pauls Square

We were commissioned to design and make custom furniture to transform a bland and soulless space into a warm and inviting lounge in keeping with the history of the building.

This home is situated just down the road from us in a beautiful building on St. Paul’s Square in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter. It was built in 1781 and will have been one of the first buildings in the Jewellery Quarter completed on plots sold by the Colmore Estate after the consecration of St Paul's Church in 1779.

Originally a residential townhouse it has been used by various businesses; Lacquerer and Varnish Maker, French and English Boarding Establishment, Lamp Maker, Truss Maker, Rope and Twine Manufacturer and as offices. Converted back to residential use in 2018.

The current owner of one of the new apartments challenged us to transform the space from a a bland, lack lustre  refurbishment, with no personality or identity in keeping with the style of the building.

We worked with the client to bring their vision to life and built a false chimney breast and fitted wall units in a style sympathetic to the Georgian period. Beautiful walnut was chosen for the shelving to complement the interior design and we incorporated smart lighting. This creates a sophisticated and homely atmosphere more in keeping with the history of the building.

The decoration and painting was expertly undertaken by Opus Services
